MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) - Legacy

MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) - Legacy

Predictor's Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) module is a project prioritization tool.

It is designed to take a simulation output and weight the Treatments against each other using additional custom criteria.

These additional criteria are typically holistic ratings of our assets that are not suitable to be used as Service Criteria or Filters in our decision model.

MCDM Aggregation Report

Once you have completed weighting 2 or more projects in the MCDM module the aggregation report will be available

  • Select the MCDM Group
  • Choose the records that you want  to aggregate
  • Click View Aggregation Report

  • The report will open up with a combined list of projects and their priorities
  • This can then be exported, ready for import into your project management platform.

Importing and Weighting Projects

The MCDM making module is considered a final step before project scheduling.
It is therefore important that any Simulation outputs that are imported into it, have already been validated to meet your Service Level and Funding requirements as well as providing a draft Capital plan.

Setup Group

  • Begin by creating a new MCDM group
    • This will have a similar name to the simulation you plan on importing

Import Treatments

  • Next click Import Data to open the import wizard

  • Choose the number of years to import
    • Typically you will only import the treatments you need to prioritize for next years works program or 1-2 years of treatments
  • Choose the source simulation
    • This needs to have already been validated to meet your Service Level and Funding requirements

  • Click Next
  • Create the custom criteria that you will use to weight the treatments against each other

  • Click Next
  • Configure the criteria weightings for each treatment type

  • Click next to complete the import

Weight Treatments

  • For each Treatment, weight the custom criteria with 1 being least important and 5 being most important.
Once a treatment is weighted Predictor will calculate its overall priority
